Residential Stormwater Management
Erik’s backyard was experiencing the common problem of flooding along the back fence line. The regular ponding was causing the fence posts to rot and making some of the property unusable because of the soil saturation. Starting at the source, Green Guerrilla used catch basins and directional drainage to harvest the storm water from the downspouts into the rain garden system. Second, we created a rain garden strip along the fence line that would mitigate the water as it made its way to larger rain garden in the back corner of the yard. Lastly, we designed a flower native bed along a walk way leading away from the rain garden, to tie all three features together making aesthetically pleasing backyard landscape design that also doubles as a rain garden system. Yes, Erik you can have your pie and eat it too!
- Mitigate residential runoff rainwater
- Flooding problems in back and side property boundaries.
- Aesthetically pleasing rain garden that promotes biodiversity
I want to thank Green Guerrilla for installing our new Rain Garden. Not only is it beautiful (and only going to get more gorgeous as the native plants mature), but we think our backyard flooding problem will now be a thing of the past (because native prairie plants are deep rooted and thirsty). We also are excited about the support our new rain garden will provide to pollinators, monarch butterflies, and local bird populations. –Erik
