We specialize in native garden/ natural area designs, applications, and maintenance. From conception to completion, our team is experienced creating pollinator gardens, turf-to-native, run-off storm water mitigation and other unique green-infrastructure projects for residential, HOA, commercial and campus properties. Green Guerrilla has the know how to assist in making your sustainable landscape ideas a substantially beneficial environment.

Green Guerrilla currently provides year-round groundskeeping for HOAs, commercial, school and campus properties using eco-friendly practices and integrated pest management. We also use no gasoline in weekly lawn maintenance eliminating spillage, significantly reducing emissions and is overall more sustainable for our natural environment than other traditional lawn care services. Our 80-Volt electric lawn power equipment emit no emissions and are significantly quieter for residents than the loud small engine gas powered equipment that other traditional landscaping companies use.

Green Guerrilla has worked on projects with the National Forest Foundation, the US Forest, the Morton Arboretum, Chicago Region Trees Initiative, City of Elgin, Friends of the Fox River and the Elgin Math and Science Academy.

Christopher Flaherty, President of Green Guerrilla
Christopher Flaherty is the founder and president of Green Guerrilla. He has over 10 years experience managing a wide variety of recreational, natural, commercial and native plant landscapes. Chris was appointed as a Sustainability Commissioner for the City of Elgin for two terms and chaired its Urban Ecology work group. His sustainable landscape designs and projects were recoginezed by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago with the 2021 Sustainable Landscape Award. Green Guerrilla was also awarded the 2019 “Sustey” Award in the Sustainable Business category by the Elgin Sustainability Commission and the 2022 Urban Foresty Award by the Chicago Region Trees Initiative for leading several different community projects that promote biodiversity and create a more sustainable urban enviroment.

Paula Popowski, Green Guerrilla Landscape Designer
Paula is a Certified Landscape Designer with 20 years of experience designing landscapes for local nurseries and private clients. She has been an instructor in several landscape design programs and is also a Certified Nursery Professional. Paula is currently enrolled in the Kane County Certified Naturalist program. With her deep passion for sustainability and extensive knowledge in landscape design, Paula can help make your sustainable landscape vision a reality.
